Kevin Smeltzer Nomination

USAT has posted an opening at the national level. Kevin Smeltzer, club member and current Mideast Region Chair is seeking our help with that nomination. He needs a minimum of 50 signed petitions no later than Tuesday 6/29. It provides our club with an influential board member who can allow our concerns regarding the future of our sport to be heard!

MERCR Race Schedule

The 2010 MERCRS race schedule is available at the Mideast Regions website at www.usatmideast.com. The club will focus on 5 key races this year starting with the 5/22 Thunder in the Valley Tri at Terre Haute. On 6/19 there is Johans Trifest, Hopkins MI, which is a double bonus point race and on 7/10 the annual Muncie Endurathon in Muncie. Another double bonus race is Evergreen Lakes in Hudson IL on 7/17 and on 8/1 Tri Indy, Indianapolis. The championship is on 8/29 at Breakwater in Petoskey MI. The club has applied for a USAT grant to help with transportation costs to the championship. We will post additional details on this race as we move into the season. This year, the club can score points at all the scheduled MERCRS races as long as we have a minimum of 8 members. So if you participate in any of the other races, please notify Tom Nagel (tom.nagel@vitran.com) so he can submit your scores.

Virtual Triathlon 2010

YMCA Indy Swimfit is offering an opportunity nationwide to TRI at your own convenience during the month of March 2010! This event is open to both adults and kids. Complete a 20 minute swim, 20 minute bike, and 20 minute run on separate occasions or consecutively at the location of your choice. Try as many times as you like during March to achieve your final BEST TRI distance. Go to www.indyswimfit.com for Event Information and Registration. Event fee is $12. Enter your BEST TRI by March 31st, 12 midnight EST. You can bike and run on stationary equipment or on the road. Numerous prize drawings and age group awards!
